Christmas 2014 – thank you for your support

SPEAR would sincerely like to thank the support and efforts of Isleworth Baroque for making our recent Carol Concert so successful. Over 100 people filled St John the Divine Richmond to celebrate Christmas and raise money to help local homeless.

Special thanks go to Janet Oates for coordinating not just the experienced singers and musicians but taking some SPEAR staff under her wing she nurtured harmonious performances from enthusiastic but very inexperienced beginners.

Raising nearly a £1,000 for a local charity is only one positive. The welcome and camaraderie ensured a very warm start to the festive season.”

St Matthew Passion for Helena Brown (Spring 2013)

On 17th March 2013, a Matthew Passion was performed by friends and colleagues of Helena Brown, our founder and musical director until last April when she sadly passed away. The Matthew Passion was pulled together by Leslie Anne Lewis, our current musical director. Isleworth Baroque fully supported Leslie in helping to organise and administer the event in advance and on the day.

George Mowat Brown would like to thank everyone who helped, participated and performed in the event  – click here for a note from him.

Thanks to the great generosity of professional musicians who gave their services for free, and many other contributions including refreshments, CDs of Helena performing with Michael Keen (our continuo player) and – very importantly – the venue, we were able to send a donation of £470 to the Musician’s Benevolent Fund – a charity close to Helena’s heart.

If you want to see more about the event, and some wonderful commemorative comments from a number of people who knew Helena, please visit the website www.helenabrown.wordpress.com.

Isleworth Baroque 10th Anniversary Concert Spring 2012

-In the spring of 2012 Isleworth Baroque celebrated our 10th anniversary to a full house with a concert involving at least one piece from each of the operas we had performed to date.

-We put on at least one major concert every spring, and usually hold a Study Day in the summer. Concerts usually involve music by baroque composers but we have also performed a contemporary opera, Lilith, composed by our Musical Director Janet Oates.
